Next stop…?

Just met the group and got the rules. They didn’t mention anything about not giving the other teams Montezuma’s Revenge so I’m so glad I saved some vials of sewage from my last trip to Mexico.

Two teams are women who were paired together just for the trip. What’s more bold? Traveling hectically with someone you love or a total stranger? Stay tuned, this question will not remain hypothetical.

Two teams have one in the past, one of them five times! And another team took second. Only four newbie teams this year! And one very cool dad is taking his 14 year old daughter. Ahem….mom! Getting let out of the crawl space was what My parents called vacation. (Answers the “why did you leave Wisconsin question?”).

Okay, everyone, make your guesses as to where we are going next? Winner gets a hundred doll hairs.

Is that a photo of Vivian seated on a plane next to The Emperor from a Star Wars movie?

Here we go!

We are at the airport and ready to head to our first exotic destination …Vancouver! Apparently we will be circumnavigating the world from south to north.

Standing at TSA inspires me to rewrite the first two lines of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath.

Travelers gather in their masses,

Stuck in lines between fat assess.

But once through security we are truly on vacation. So long healthy eating!

Just how many monkeys were killed to make that bread?

We have no idea what’s in store next. For all we know when we get to Vancouver we could just board another plane. Stay tuned!

Ps. A word from Vi: If there is any question as to who authors each post, the ones Sal does sound like a 12 year old wrote them. Please accept preemptive apology for inevitable bodily function jokes.

What?? We’re going on vacation but we have no clue where…

March 31, 2019 –  Thanks for joining us!  In two weeks we begin our journey around the world as we embark on the 2019 Global Scavenger Hunt (https://globalscavengerhunt.com).  We will be 1 of 10 two-person teams competing to be crowned the “World’s Greatest Travelers”.

The journey begins in less than 2 weeks, and here is what we know so far:

  1. The adventure begins April 12, in Vancouver.
  2. We will circumnavigate the globe and visit 10 countries.
  3. The first week will be hot.
  4. At least a couple countries will pose a small malaria risk.
  5. Some countries require a visa (which have been obtained for us by TGSH).
  6. The excitement comes to a close on May 5, in New York City.

For each leg of the adventure we will be given scavenges, each worth an allocated number of points. Through strategy, sheer will, and perhaps a lot of caffeine, the team with the most points wins the leg.  The team with the best score wins.

The goal of this trip is not to simply check the boxes and move on, but instead it is to immerse ourselves in the culture of each country we visit.  To do so, we are required to detach from our iPhones and travel the way we did in the 20th century.  We’ll actually need to talk to people and use public transportation to find our way around strange places, (if you are sweating you are a millennial).  Crazy that we need official rules to actually make us connect with new people, experience life, and travel the old fashioned way!

The Global Scavenger Hunt (TGSH) started in 2000.  It has been called the “Amazing Race for Real Travelers” and their motto is trusting strangers in strange lands.  It is associated with the GreatEscape Foundation, whose goal is helping strangers in strange lands.  The Foundation raises money to provide elementary school education to the youth of the world (both boys and especially girls) and providing seed money micro-loans to budding entrepreneurs.  If you are interested in supporting international youth, please consider making a tax-exempt donation below. Your donation does not fund us!

We hope you will follow our blog and cheer us on.  We are Team Order and Chaos, and we hope to bring you the title “World’s Greatest Travelers”!
